Photography For New Birmingham Area construction

Today I just wanted to share some of my recent photography I've been doing for The Terminal and new construction on Highway 280. Nothing too techy, just showing how you can use photography to show people about new stuff going on in the city.

Contrary to popular opinion, Birmingham's restaurant economy is doing great. I see it with our sales (and wait times) at The Cheesecake Factory to packed out parking lots at the new Surin West (on 280) and some of these new restaurant openings in the area (click on the picture for full size on Flickr):

New construction for a Tilted Kilt in the old Copeland's building on 280.

Saigon Noodle House in the Best Buy / World Market shopping center on 280.

Summit Construction

The new construction phase at the Summit next to Cheesecake. This is supposed to be done before Christmas... we'll see.

Construction in the sky

Construction at the Summit.
Phase 4 of the Summit Shopping Complex started this month. There are supposedly going to be a whole new row of shops, some office spaces and a parking deck on the other side of the Cheesecake Factory parking lot.

I thought that the Komatsu shovel sitting on top of the little dirt mountain looked cool with the sky behind it.

Sky with plane over The Summit

Sky at evening from the back door of Cheesecake. That's a plane right above that light pole. Check out some of my real photography stuff on my FLICKR site

Charles Barkley

This is Charles Barkley, leaving the Cheesecake Factory in Birmingham after lunch with his publicist. BTW, he lives in Birmingham to be close to his family.

This is an awesome full arch rainbow that appeared outside the Summit where my restaurant is today.
